| Are Indians buying Online? The IOAI forecasts that in a few short years' e-commerce transactions in India will cross the Rs 2300 crore mark (2006-2007) highlighting the growing adoption of the Internet as a legitimate sales channel.
This IOAI report stands to provide analysis and recommendations which will be helpful to a retailer to understand the consumer's perception associated with Security whilst transacting Online along with their areas of concern. It also scrutinizes the factors that consumers believe would increase their faith and security and help Online retailers in India win over not only mere visitors to their site but also increase the frequency of shopping for regular 'e' consumers.
The Internet offers an audience that will grow to a 100 million users by 2007-08, offers secure unlimited shelf space and isn't bound by operational timings and geographical boundaries; and an opportunity to cater to a wider market at a comparative miniscule cost.
With urban sprawl activities getting a fillip with metro allied Internet and media consumption, there are increasing opportunities of seeing an open economy and transaction values increasing in off shoot towns and townships. On a macro level this would mean direct access to big city markets (for consumers and suppliers alike) and should ensure a growth in income which further fuels the Internets cause.
The research was mandated to Cross Tab Marketing Services, a pioneer in the field of Online Research. The survey solicited information on the users, Profile, Internet Usage, their perception of the security associated with transacting Online, their areas of concern and factors that would increase their faith in Online transactions.
